About BelievePAC

After Hurricane Katrina, Renee and John Grisham immediately pledged money and raised millions more, all of which was given to people in need along our coast. I heard the stories and read the letters. The money, visits and hard work of not only the Grisham’s, but countless other heroes, encouraged and fostered hope.

The Legislature and Governor were charged to offer solutions to our citizens in the aftermath of the storm. By virtue of committee appointment, I had a lead role. Working across party lines had not been my strong suit. That all changed.

I found myself working with my colleagues of both parties. I learned what it meant to be part of a true bipartisan effort. We all knew what the job entailed, including the possibility of loss, but shared the work. In the end, there was political success because no one sought personal credit. That opportunity to form friendships and a new found respect for my colleagues will never be forgotten.

All along our coast, Katrina changed lives. It changed me too.

While the Grishams were on the Coast, they gave thousands of t-shirts with the word ‘BELIEVE’ printed across the back to anyone around. The shirts conveyed what everyone silently hoped and prayed – things would get better.

BelievePac is an effort to ensure men and women of character and political courage work together for a better tomorrow. Won’t you join us?
